Janel McCarville may be playing in the WNBA this summer, but it likely won’t be with the Minnesota Lynx.
The 34-year-old veteran forward/center, who suited up for the franchise three of the last four years, is not slated to return this season.
“Janel McCarville is not under contract with the Lynx at this time,” a spokesperson for Minnesota said.
McCarville’s nine-year career in the league began with the Charlotte Sting. After that team folded, she played for the New York Liberty for four years before coming to the Lynx in 2013. McCarville sat out the 2015 season to rest, and returned last year to help lead the team to the WNBA Championship series. She was a star at the University of Minnesota with Lynx teammate Lindsay Whalen, and has been a favorite of Minnesota fans.
McCarville’s agent could not be reached for comment.
