Wings hold off Stars in overtime, 97-90

Dallas, Texas. – The Dallas Wings finished strong in overtime to defeat the San Antonio Stars, 97-90. Thirteen-year veteran Plenette Pierson led the charge against the in-state rivals with 21 points. Skylar Diggins and Odyssey Sims each had 19, and both teams had five players that scored in double digits.

The Wings have now won four in a row after losing six straight.┬áIt was the fourth overtime Dallas has played this week – three of them coming against Phoenix last Saturday. The Wings won that game with a balanced attack.

The Wings lead throughout most of the game, but San Antonio pulled within three with two minutes left. Stars forward Jane Appel-Marinelli tied it up with 14 seconds left in regulation and neither team could score before time expired.

Dallas outscored the Stars 14-3 in the overtime period. Forward Glory Johnson posted her third straight double-double, with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wings evened up their record at 7-7, and they look to keep adding to the win column Saturday night, as they wrap up their three-game home stand against Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever.
