The Women’s Sports Foundation has just released its newest report on sexism in sport, called “Beyond X’s and O’s: Gender Bias and Coaches of Women’s College Sports.”
The report details several findings:
- Men are said to have more professional advantages than women
- Women experience potential retaliation and less pay
- Female coaches have less of a voice than male coaches
- There are gender differences in job security and fair treatment
- Gender bias and Title IX are still the “third rail”
- There are unequal resources between men’s and women’s teams
- There is concern around expressing racial discomfort
- Concerns about homophobia remain visible
- There are intersections between gender differences and sexual orientation
- There are claims of reverse discrimination from male coaches
