The 20th WNBA draft Thursday will feature a deep college class that will likely stack all three rounds with talent.
Connecticut forward Breanna Stewart, who won every major player award this college season, headlines the 2016 class. Teammate Moriah Jefferson is thought to be a lock for the second pick, and the remaining spots could go in any order.
The draft, at 4 p.m. Pacific/7 p.m. Eastern on ESPN2, kicks off the WNBA’s 20th season. Original draftees Sheryl Swoopes, Rebecca Lobo and Lisa Leslie met with the 12 player invitees today on the last day of their league orientation. The prospects include Rachel Banham of Minnesota, Imani Boyette of Texas, Kahleah Copper of Rutgers, Jonquel Jones of George Washington, Aerial Powers of Michigan State, Tiffany Mitchell of South Carolina, Morgan Tuck of Connecticut, Courtney Walker of Texas A&M, Talia Walton of Washington, Courtney Williams of South Florida, and Stewart and Jefferson.
The Seattle Storm have the No. 1 pick, followed by the San Antonio Stars at 2, the Connecticut Sun at picks 3 and 4, and the Dallas Wings with pick 5.
WNBA season kicks off Saturday, May 14.
