WNBA trade moratorium expires Friday

The moratorium on WNBA teams signing new players, trading players, designating core players/giving qualifying offers, and on prospective players signing contracts/agreements with teams expires at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time Friday, March 7, 2014, a source told They’re Playing Basketball today.

The Women’s National Basketball Players Association is still writing the terms of the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the source said. Both sides announced three weeks ago that they had come to a new agreement on the CBA, and said it would be seven to ten days before it was formalized. The process has taken much longer.

The WNBPA aims to finish drafting the agreement this week, the source said.
