The Sparks just got a little less Tennessee. But what’s strange is that I just got this from the Liberty – not the Sparks – and I’m an LA season ticket holder:
Liberty Acquires Guard Sidney Spencer From Los Angeles In Exchange For 2010 1st Round Pick
New York, Los Angeles & Minnesota Complete Three-Team Trade
The New York Liberty has acquired guard Sidney Spencer from the Los Angeles Sparks in exchange for the Liberty’s first round pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft, it was announced today by team president and general manager Carol Blazejowski. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. Los Angeles has sent the first round pick and forward Raffaella Masciadri to the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for guard Noelle Quinn.

I’m happy for Sid. Her frustration at unecessarily languishing on the bench last season, after leading the team in 2007, was visible. Hopefully she’ll be utilized properly by NY. And the Sparks are back in it next year with a first-round pick. A win-win for all.
