Minneapolis, Minn.– The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday 83-65. The win not only signified their fifth straight victory, but moved them to within a half game of the first place Los Angeles Sparks in the standings.
Seimone Augustus led the way for the Lynx, despite not recording her first basket until the 4:41 mark of the second quarter. She would finish with 19 points to go along with five assists.
Augustus’s scoring outbreak came at just the right time, as the Dream were able to pull to with 7 with 1:30 remaining in the third quarter. The Lynx guard would then add 9 in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory.
Sylvia Fowles chipped in with 14 points to go along with a very impressive five blocked shots and six rebounds.
Layshia Clarendon had 11 points for the visiting Dream, who now stand at 12-12 for the season.
The Lynx will now look toward Friday when they host the Seattle Storm in the final contest before the Olympic break.
