  1. Tennessee gets schooled by Chattanooga? First time in almost four decades?!? Not a great prep for GA Tech.

Things really have changed for the Lady Vols.

  2. A couple of months ago, you chided LA fans for expecting too much too soon. Will we be seeing the same sort of article about Tennessee fans who are already calling for Holly Warlick's firing after one loss? What's really funny is that some of them are even suggesting Nikki Caldwell take over immediately.

  3. There was big piece on Warlck in the most recent Sports Illustrated complete with a two page pic of her on her orange and white Harley. Pretty interesting. In it she discussed her prior role as being more of a positive hand holder with the TN ballers after Summitt would get all over them. She acknowledged it was a big change for her.

I think Warlick will probably be Ok eventually but I also believe many underestimated the huge difference between being head coach and the #2 assistant, esp for several decades even if it's in the same program. She's just not used to being fully in charge yet. She needs to grow into the job ASAP as I don't think the TN fans are too long on patience. LIke UConn they're pretty spoiled.

It's concerning that their defensive intensity and effort just wasn't there against Chattanooga per Warlick's presser after the game. Nothing wrong with a bad game but lack of defensive effort particularly for a young super talented squad like TN is a preparation / motivation issue. Maybe they were looking past Chattanooga.

I'm looking forward to seeing how TN responds now. If they don't put in more of an effort against Tech they'll get run out of the gym. This will give us a chance to see what they're made of.

  4. Louisville pulling it out vs. Texas A&M was a great game. Two top fifteen programs scheduling each other this early in the season was pretty impressive. Louisville has a great young coach in Jeff Waltz, the Schimmel sisters rock and their fans are epic. They are final four sleepers this year.

Notre Dame scheduling Ohio State and winning is almost as impressive.

Both Louisville and Notre Dame have passed serious early season tests. Everyone else needs to catch up.
