Rutgers pulls one out, Stanford rolls

The Scarlet Knights avoided another 4 a.m. practice today as they beat DePaul, 60-57. Perhaps there are some Rutgers fans out there who could tell us why the team seems to be struggling so much lately? I’d love to know.

Nnemkadi Ogwumike showed up big today for Stanford, posting 24 points and 16 rebounds in their 79-58 win over Cal. Layshia Clarendon once again lead the Bears, with 13 points.

On a non-game related note, I like this format for grading aspects of a team’s performance, because each portion is letter-graded. If any reader would like to post a similar report card for their favorite team, please send it to: hoopism@yahoo.com. I’d like to run some.

  1. I'm far from a Rutgers fan (actually, far from a CVS fan) but it seems that last year's class had very specific talents but the coach insisted on handcuffing them to her style of play. Their respective strengths and weaknesses mean nothing in her system. Square pegs in round holes. I also think that the woman has so intimidated her players that they have no freedom. They're so afraid to make a mistake that they can't develop.

As a fan of womens' basketball, I think Rutgers' defensive style is torture to watch and only gives rise to enemies of the game who believe that the sport is boring, unathletic and slow.
